Fellow Nigerians,
Since I have been reviewing the political mess in our beloved country, Nigeria, Dr Alalibo"s article just hit the nail at the head. I kept on pointing to the Nigerian Rally Movement that it is not the degree of corruption in the country that is holding us back as a country but the lack of "A POLITICAL WILL".
Listen to Dr Alalibo:"Nigerians remain cowards in the face of corruption and the usurpation of their given political mandate. He continued:"For if they continue to accept this type of mediocrity, they must accept their fate without complaint." He advised:"Let us not kid ourselves for the likes of Maurice Iwu are the reason why Nigeria remains a stagnant society, and if we crave a progressive society, there is a price to be paid, and that is- IWU AND HIS CO-TRAVELERS MUST BE JETTISONED LIKE A BAGGAGE ON A SINKING SHIP for that is the only way forward for a country so blessed".
How I wish the NIGERIAN RALLY MOVEMENT will take the learned well-researched message to heart and play it our youths and see whether they will be even a little bit moved as the IRANIANS during the current attempt to steal their votes from them. We are a very complacent society, including myself, otherwise, our beloved country would have been better off. I feel sad for my own self that I was not imbued with the type of adrenaline that makes people struggle. I still recollect an occasion when my first daughter was asking me: She said; Daddy, are you sure you are an Ibo man?.
Surprisingly, I said: Yes, I am. I said to her, why do you ask me such a question. She retorted most of your ibo colleagues I know are always hustling for money but you feel so contented. This is true of me and that is why I said I wish I had the type of push some of my colleagues have. I am sure that a lot of other Nigerians like myself are inflicted with this type of complacency blood, that makes us not to worry too much about things. I appeal to the younger generations to start rejecting this over-quiet nature. In the final analysis, it does no good to our country. Let us imbibe the kind of spirit the Iranians have and in the long run, it is better for the country. No one will dare take them for a ride.
